I was given the opportunity to travel to Italy circa 2000 to attend an international gathering of the youth of the Focolare Movement called the Genfest. [The Focolare movement is an international organization founded in Trent, Italy by Chiara Lubich. It promotes universal brotherhood and unity.  The Gen are the young adults and children of the Focolare dubbed as the "new generation", forming a revolution of love to fulfill Jesus' prayer: "That all may be one".] After which, I remained in Italy for six month to experience the life of unity living at the Gen School in Loppiano, Florence, Italy. We were young people from different countries, cultures and race, living in harmony and in unity which is possible through constant and mutual charity. An experience that I will treasure forever. 

Arcobaleno - - talks about a life of unity. A constant discovery of the other. It seems that we're like a rainbow, different colors together, and only when I am able to embrace them as one, then I will see the light. It also talks about faith in the will of God for us. It may be revealed to us in a different manner that what we'd expect, but we should keep on holding to our faith and trust in Him.  

I made this song in Italian. Although it has been translated to English with the help of Carlo Gentile.

Another song that I made in Loppiano, Italy during my stay at the Gen School. This song talks about the Focolarini - - The Focolarini are single men and women who live in separate communities called focolares (hearths), and are the core of the Focolare Movement. The focolarini responded to their call of God and have left their families and possessions to follow Him in communion, to contribute to the realization  of Jesus' prayer "That all may be one." I have witnessed and experienced the life of the focolarini since I met the movement when I was a teenager. They have been a living testament of Jesus' love for me here on earth. The desire to love and make themselves one and united with us. They wish to make Jesus present according to the Scripture: "when two or more are gathered in my name, I am there in their midst". Some focolarini are ordained to priesthood at service of the movement and some are married as well.

Cosa c'e? - - talks about the love of the focolarini. Asking them what is there behind their smiles that can break down these walls of doubt. What is there in their thoughts that can change this world? What is there in their hearts? Their desire to love, and the dream to live as one! At then end, I asked myself what is there inside my heart? Do I stay and watch as they work for this change or do I do something now.

Again, this song is in Italian. However, there is an english version of this song that is included in our album "Giubilo - Making Space for Love" produced and released by New City Press, Focolare Movement in the Philippines.

This song is for my wife, Mary Ann. I wanted to make a song using her name. I composed this song circa 2000 when I was in Italy even before we got married (in 2003). It was when I missed her the most during that cold Italian winter's night when I made this for her. 

I used to play this song together with my defunct band "Astrosub" during our gigs, but we weren't able to record it. This version is a demo. This is for my wife Mary Ann - 'you are the moon in that big black sky...'. (The picture of the kid with headphones on the player is our 3rd child Luis)

This is one of my first compositions as a song writer. I made this for an old friend from the states who used to visit her relatives here in the Philippines for vacation. A friend from the distant past. I got the chance to know her because her relatives are close friends of mine. Although our encounter was ephemeral, I'm still thankful to have been given the opportunity of knowing her. This is a rough mix of the song. Most of the instruments used are samples except for the guitar and my voice. This is for Sarah.

A collaboration with Bassist Tony Zamora circa 1998. Basement Fantasy is a fusion and an experimental collaboration. It should give you a fright! Here's the lyrics in Filipino.

A collaboration with Edmund Pielago, who is a fellow song writer and a drummer. He composed songs for the then 90's band "Jellybeans" who recorded singles under Ivory Records and Vicor Music Philippines. The song Sunday is part of Jellybeans' DIY album named after this track. Edmund is also part of the Gen band of the Focolare movement in the Philippines called Gen Giubilo. He is a long time friend and band mate.

A song that I started to do back in early 2000's with a friend (Mike Molina - Gen Giubilo pianist) but wasn't really able to finish it then. We started with the first line of the stanza plus the Chorus melody - - and that's it. After many years (plus many years of experiences as well), I finally finished this song last May 15, 2014. This song is about Mary (Holy). It talks about how I would want to be like her, with a golden and pure heart. It also asks her to bring us all to God together. This is in Tagalog (hopefully also to translate this in Italian - - as Italian to Tagalog versions are more "palatable" than in English. 

This is only a demo version so don't expect the quality to be at its best. I am still in the works of adding more voices and instrumentation as well as improving some of the wordings with the help of friends (Rome Vital, Marcy Bautista, Etc.) But for now, I hope you find this accompanying you in your prayer. It's a simple song, simple like Mary.
